Understanding it..

Your body will still make insulin but not a sufficient amount.  As the disease progresses your pancreas will make less and less insulin, making it very difficult to keep your blood sugar in the target range. 

How to still have a fulfilling life

  • Take your medication regularly
  • Check your feet and other areas of your body for cuts, swelling, blisters, etc.
  • Regular visits to your eye doctor and dentist
  • Monitor what, when, and how much you eat
  • Exercise at least 2 to 3 times weekly
